A warm welcome to Moorhouse Nursing Home
Moorhouse Nursing Home is an Edwardian country house in the pretty village of Hindhead in Surrey. It was originally built as the first hotel in the area by famous English architect Sir Edwin Lutyens, designed for affluent Edwardians. You’ll find that character and grandeur in our home today, with some of the original features intact and the hotel’s porcelain plates on display.
Today, Moorhouse Nursing Home is the home-from-home for a close group of 36 elderly care residents who require support with general living, as well as nursing and dementia care on both a short and long term basis.
The nursing and dementia care home is set in landscaped gardens, with private patios and shared seating areas for your loved one to enjoy. It boasts stunning views overlooking the National Trust’s Golden Valley and Surrey countryside, and is close to the village centre for trips out.
Moorhouse Nursing Home is managed by Registered Nurse Julie East. Julie has more than 20 years’ experience in social care.

I have been working as a Registered General Nurse in the social care sector for over 20 years gaining experience in long term care.
I am passionate about caring for the elderly and working at Moorhouse Nursing Home is very rewarding for me. I enjoy working with people and making them happy. I believe that when a resident move into our home, myself and my team are there to ensure they live their life to the fullest, achieving their goals and enhancing the quality of their life through their personalised care plans.

Care
Moorhouse Nursing Home offers 24-hour residential personal care, specific needs nursing and dementia care, respite care for short stays, and palliative care to support end-of-life.
Your loved one will be taken care of by our committed and caring registered nurses and trained carers. Where possible, we give them the choice of a male or female member of our team to provide their care. Yet whoever looks after your loved one, we guarantee they’ll provide care and companionship with expertise and empathy.
Bedrooms & Facilities
No matter your loved one’s needs or budgets, Moorhouse Nursing Home has their perfect home-from-home. Our 34 rooms range from full-comfort standard to deluxe ground floor bedrooms, with a private ensuite and doors to the patio and garden. Premium rooms also offer ensuites, and have views of the Surrey countryside.
All rooms are furnished with everything your loved one needs for comfort: a bed, telephone, TV, wardrobe, dressing table, and wash basin. Yet we encourage them to bring personal belongings and furnishings to make their room truly feel like home.
Our bedrooms are spread across three floors, each easily accessible by stairs, stairlifts or lift. And every single bedroom is fitted with a contact alarm point. This is connected to a nurse call system, alerting staff on duty 24/7 of their needs, giving you complete peace of mind in your loved one’s care at Moorhouse Nursing Home.
Dining
Your loved one will enjoy homemade, nutritionally-balanced, fresh daily meals, built around their preferences and local produce (where possible). Every main meal is cooked in-house by our own award-nominated chef. We cater for dietary needs and preferences, and hold a five-star food rating: the highest possible accreditation.
Our residents also enjoy mid-morning and mid-afternoon teas, with homemade cakes, cheese and biscuits. Teas can be enjoyed in the sun lounge, terrace or private room, and hot and cold drinks are readily available. And we welcome you to join your loved one for meals in the dining room, with prior notice.
Activities
We invite all our residents to take part in our full range of activities and social events, held in our own private activities room with our activity coordinator. The activities are led by your loved one’s preferences and abilities, and we encourage both new and existing interests. We also regularly welcome external visitors to host activities, such as singing classes.
Your loved one can relax in the sun lounge, be pampered in our own hairdressing salon, or even take excursions on our private minibus. We also have a vast greenhouse and gardens for our keen gardeners to enjoy.
Outside the range of activities included in our weekly fees, we provide personal care options for your loved one to enjoy, from professional hairdressing and manicures to individual copies of magazines and newspapers. We also arrange private healthcare, such as dentistry, if needed.
